HOW TO KEEP COUCH COVERS FROM SLIPPING

As you will soon realize, the work does not end by picking the perfect color and buying your new favorite cover and fit it on your furniture. You still have to ensure it does not slide, bunch, and look shabby.

If this sounds like a problem you’ve had, then worry not- the following are reliable tips you can utilize to ensure your covers stay in place.

GET SOME VELCRO STRIPS

Velcro is perfect for making sure your sofa covers stay in place.

Requirement: Top-drawer Velcro.

Step 1:
Separate the sofa cover from the cushion and apply Velcro on it. In case your fabric is thin, add more Velcro in the middle and on the edges of the cover, this, to protect it from slipping. However, for thick fabric, add a single strip of Velcro at the center of the sofa cover.

Step 2:
Accurately align the back, bottom, and arms of your chair with strips of Velcro. As you will soon realize, these are the areas prone to slipping.

Step 3:
Set up the cover on the seat. It should perfectly fit if you have applied Velcro along the boundaries.

NOTE: WHEN REMOVING THE VELCRO, GENTLY PULL TO SEPARATE IT FROM THE FABRIC. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ANY HARMFUL RESIDUE IF YOU UTILIZE QUALITY VELCRO; HOWEVER, TO AVOID ANY COMPLICATIONS, CHECK THE PACKAGING WHEN YOU GO SHOPPING FOR THE PRODUCT

MAKE USE OF A WOODEN SPOON

If you are using a single piece of sofa slipcover, you will require a different reliable method to prevent it from slipping.

Requirement: A wooden spoon.

Step 1:
Stretch the cover over your chair and tuck in the excess fabric at the back and arms so that it accurately aligns itself with the structure of your sofa.

Step 2:
Next, using the wooden spoon, tuck in the bunched fabric as deep as possible. Also, using the back of the spoon, smoothen the middle sections before pressing the edges towards the creases.

Step 3:
Lastly, straighten the drawstrings along the base of the chair to ensure the whole cover is in place.

GOT ANY OLD MAGAZINES?

Requirements: Old magazines, rubber bands.

Step 1:
Refer to the first step on the wooden spoon.

Step 2:
Roll numerous pieces of old magazine and tie them into a tube using the rubber bands.

Step 3:
Tuck in the rolled newspapers in between the creases, this way, adjusting the cover into shape.

Step 4:
Press the tubes down until the cover aligns with the shape of your seat. Ensure it is tight enough to prevent it from slipping.

NOTE: DO NOT USE OLD NEWSPAPERS; THE INK ON THEM WILL LEAVE MARKS AFFECTING THE COLOR OF YOUR SOFA. ALSO, IT IS ESSENTIAL TO ROLL THE MAGAZINES TO ENSURE YOU DO NOT STRETCH THE COVER DURING THE PROCESS.

MAKE SURE YOUR SOFA COVER IS THE CORRECT SIZE

Having looked at how you can measure your sofa before buying a new sofa cover, utilize the measurements to ensure you get the upholster that flawlessly fits your sofa.

Choose a cover with an impressive view. Pick a color that compliments the other furniture in the room.

Also, on color, ensure the slipcover you pick does not easily shade off when you clean it, or from constant use. A red or blue cover or a mixture of both should do the job.
